- After a few minutes, you find a ravine that's pock-marked with the
- entrances to caves. You have heard that ore is found in the ground, so
- you figure that the caves are as good a place as any to look for ore.
-
- As you climb into the ravine, you see that the cave entrances are
- arranged in pairs, one above the other. The angle of the sunlight
- allows you to see partway down the upper cave, but not the lower cave.
-
- You have enough time to explore five caves, and one hundred ounces of
- the chemicals you use to extract minerals. By looking, you will be able
- to tell about how much ore is in the top cave (on a scale of 0-10); you
- will have to guess whether the bottom cave has more ore or less. You
- will also have to decide how many ounces of chemicals to use on each
- cave before you climb down to do your mining.
-
- When you guess right, your score will increase by the amount of ore in
- the cave multiplied by the amount of chemicals you invested. When you
- guess wrong, your score will not change. You receive no bonus for
- having chemicals left over at the end. Good luck!
